The son of Isaac Cuikshank snr, and brother of George Cruikshank, he was one of the leading caricaturists and illustrators of his day. He was a master of social and political satire, and his favourite subjects other than satire were the theatre, the military, and sporting events such as boxing, fencing, cock fighting; and the tavern life involved with these activities.
