Fishwick was a contributor to the Football and the Fine Arts exhibition of 1953, and this watercolour - of children playing football against an industrial backdrop was made at the time. "Where shall we spend eternity" was the ironic text of some graffiti on the wall.
Fishwick was for 25 years the Principal of Exeter College of Art, and his work was highly sought after by West Country museums and collectors. He studied at Liverpool Art School, and in New York during the 1940s, and exhibited widely from the 1950s onwards.
