Football Ground

enamel paint on board
38 x 77¾ ins

The stadium is not a specific one, rather the artist has presented the colour, light and atmosphere of an evening game. "I was struck by the weird, saturated green of the pitch and the beautiful glow of the floodlights"

Matthew Davis studied at Norwich School of Art and Camberwell College of Art. Since 1992, he has exhibited in various group exhibitions in England and Germany. In 2002, he was a finalist at the Kettle's Yard Open Exhibition, and the winner of the Peterborough Prize. (Both these exhibitions were selected from a large open submission). Davis is represented in the PFA Collection.
