Exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1953. This painting was commissioned by the noted lawyer and collector Wilfred Evill. His is the portrait at lower left in the canvas. The painting refers to the so-called Matthews final of 1953, and also comments on the 'other sides' of the game - money, gambling and alcohol. |
