Now Then - Throw It In by Ernest Noble

The scene is of Middle Eastern boys, all wearing fez hats, playing football in the sand near a busy sea port. The ball has been kicked behind a large stone and one of the boys has run to retrieve it. The others are shouting for the boy to throw the ball back, but it has come to rest in the throat of a large snake. The boy has a startled and confused expression on his face with wide eyes and open mouth.

Ernest Noble was a well known illustrator and cartoonist, based in Birmingham.
