One of the leading sculptors of the post-war period, Clarke studied at Preston & Manchester Art Schools, and at the Royal College. His first solo show was in 1952, and he has continued to exhibit with major one-man exhibitions, and in many important group exhibitions in Britain and abroad. He has also received numerous commissions - both corporate and ecclesiastical. He has been an RA since 1975, and his work is held in many museum collections.
