Three portraits of Janet Churchman were included in the 1960 Zwemmer Gallery exhibition: The Return of Janet Churchman (19), the current work, and 3rd of Jan: 27th, 28th,29th (21). In the exhibition catalogue, Bratby states that all 34 paintings in the show were painted between Christmas Eve 1959 and 1st April 1960.
